Nathalie Ross, Ph.D., MWC has been a freelance writer since 1997. She has published in a large number of peer reviewed, scientific and engineering journals, trade magazines, and conference proceedings (Portfolio). She also worked in the public and private sectors in the pharmaceutical, environmental, and food industries. Her hands-on experience, confirmed management skills, and flexibility ensure high quality standards and services. Pharmaceutical and medical device industries

  • Since 2006, main professional activities focusing on these therapeutic areas: cardiovascular, dentistry, dermatology, gastrointestinal, hematology, infectious diseases, musculoskeletal, neurology, nutrition, oncology, orthopedic, pediatrics, plastic surgery, psychiatry, and rheumatology.
  • For over 5 years, worked full-time for an internationally recognized firm specializing in Regulatory Affairs.
  • Managed a large number of clinical trial applications, new drug submissions, and new medical device licences applications for Health Canada and the Food and Drug Administration.
  • Taught Canadian regulatory framework at HEC, Université de Montréal.
  • Presented at national and international conferences, specifically on the New Substances Notification Regulations of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999.

Environment

  • Between 2000 and 2006, worked as a Research Scientist at Environment Canada then as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at University of Ottawa.
  • Collaborated with scientists from the National Water Research Institute (NWRI, Burlington, Ontario), École Polytechnique de Montréal, Toronto University, University of Waterloo, Queen’s University, and Ryerson University.
  • Research and teaching interests focused on environmental biotechnology, specifically on the use of biofilms for the remediation of contaminated sites.
  • Obtained funding from several agencies and acted as a Principal Investigator (e.g., NSERC, CWN, NRC); results published in highly-ranked, peer reviewed journals, such as Environmental Science and Technology, Water Research, and Microbial Ecology (Portfolio).

Food

  • Earned a B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Food Sciences from Université Laval.
  • Conducted a Master’s degree project at the Food Research and Development Centre (Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec) on flocculation and coagulation processes of dairy effluents.
  • Worked as a Research Associate in the Dairy Science and Technology Center (Université Laval, Quebec) on filtration systems for the fractionation of milk proteins.
  • As an Associate Professor at University of Ottawa, developed an undergraduate course on Food Engineering.
  • During a certificate in regulatory affairs (Seneca College, Toronto, Ontario), developed expertise on the Food and Drugs Act, specifically on the packaging and labelling of food and natural health products.
